DESCRIPTION:

In this Plenary Session, dedicated to Smart Solutions and Society, the digital and just transition will be explored and approached in the scope of the most adequate mobility solutions. Human behavior patterns and digital tools should be approached together to develop win-win mobility solutions that target sustainable, affordable, safe, flexible, and inclusive forms of mobility.

The European Green Deal, A Europe Fit for the Digital Age, and the Sustainable and Smart Mobility Strategy are key driver initiatives that will foster mobility solutions towards improved resilience and increased sustainability. Mobility (people and goods) is in deep transformation as we are at the crossroad of massive digitalization enabling more and more easy interconnectivity and access to services and resources seamlessly and urgent decarbonization needs that call for more efficient and shared use of the resources. In this paradigm situation, the innovation landscape is fertile and there are plenty of opportunities to address user needs.

KEY QUESTIONS:

  • How can smart technology development and innovations (AI, IoT, CCAM,…) best support user demands and needs?
  • How can we mobilize faster to meet the growing expectations/demands of our EU citizens as users of our transport and mobility system?
  • How can we ensure that we are developing future mobility services in a participatory, affordable, and inclusive way?
  • Do MaaS and PaaS systems need a system-of-systems architecture to achieve ‘smart cities’ or ‘smart hubs’, and if so, what should be the approach?
  • How will smart and digital technologies provide user-centred mobility solutions for a post-COVID way of life?
  • How to make sure that “smart” also is available beyond city centres?
  • The “digital and just transition” – what is your view of the transition to what?
  • How do you see the role of transport safety in a smart society? Will it still be needed?
